Carpinteria
Rincon Point in Carpinteria is considered a surfing paradise. Even
non-surfers can appreciate Carpinteria's expanse of beautiful beaches and
campsites. Agriculture is a major local industry, and every year in the
early fall there is a two-day avocado festival, which features every
possible avocado delicacy, up to and including, yes, avocado ice cream.
Horticulture is also important here. There are a number of large
nurseries, and Carpinteria has the distinction of being the biggest
producer of cymbidium orchids in the country. The Santa Barbara Polo and
Racquet Club is on the mountain side of freeway 101. Homes in the
Carpinteria area range from the fabulous vista estates of the Carpinteria
Foothills to the beach-side luxury mansions, and all the comfortable
family homes in between.
